Rubella Rubella, Latin for "little red" was initially considered to be a variant of measles or scarlet fever and was called "third disease." Its clinical features include: an incubation period of 12-23 days, lymphadenopathy in the second week, maculopapular rash 14-17 days after exposure, and a rash on the face and neck which may be more prominent after a hot shower.
