Tetanus Tetanus is an acute, often fatal, disease caused by an exotoxin produced by Clostridium Tetani. It is characterized by generalized rigidity and convulsive spasms of skeletal muscles. the muscle stiffness usually involves the jaw (lockjaw) and neck and then becomes generalized.
